my 1st RG-G build
« on: March 25, 2014, 09:39:33 PM »
I decided to try to build the RG-G at the suggestion of a friend and co-worker you know as my65pan on this forum . This is my first build of this type of project so I see it as a challenge and a good way to fill time between jobs at the shop . I\'ve been posting all my pictures and progress on facebook for family and friends but was asked to post here by my65pan so here I am . The pictures I\'ve taken are of the barrel plates and carrier block while the parts are on the lathe or mill being worked and are not complete yet , but like I said its keeping me busy between jobs at the shop . I\'ve decided to use 17/4 because I have it on hand and be more durable in the long run , I plan shooting it . . . alot  :D

Good Luck to you on this. Double check for RG-G plan changes that are listed on this site.

Glad to see more activity on the site and to see your build. We have been running into a lot of frustration with the plans and the size of some of the parts. There are a lot of very skilled folks on this site and a wealth of information here. My problem is that I remember I read something about this or that but I can\'t quite remember exactly what it was or where I found it.  :?:

Looking forward to following your progress.

Good luck, I\'ve built 4 of them.  Check on this forum for mods and errors, the drawings leave a lot to be desired!

Good luck on your build.  I haven\'t been able to work on mine since Saturday.  Got a danged cold.  I have all the machine work done except the magazine and its base.  Working on the oak part now until I get some brass.

Good Luck,
Don

thanx for the encouragement every one . I decided on a different approach than stacking the barrel plates together with the carrier block and pre drilling them like the plans call for , even a sharp drill will walk to some degree . I have a 10\" vert/horz rotary table and a DRO on the Bridgeport and I made a fixture for the 3 parts so as long as I indicate each part in to the fixture holding location shouldn\'t be a problem . any way , here\'s some more pics of the lathe work as I got it done .

This is the way I resize my pictures.

1.  Open the picture in Windows Paint.
2.  Click on Image.
3.  Click on Resize.
     Horizontal  15%
     Vertical     15%
4.  Save As:   \"New name\" for your resized drawing.

Hope it works.  Don

Now if you want to view an over sized pic - here is what I do.
1st right click
2nd click view pic.
my computer resizes the pic to fit my screen.

Good Luck with your build.
