I\'ve been following your blog with interest Tim. Glad to see the recent revamp of this site didn\'t lose your thread here. Looks like all posts from the \"Gunsmithing\" section were totally lost. Too bad since I was following the one there on a Gatling gun shotgun. Nice pic of Wes\'s Gatling you posted. Can\'t wait to see more pics of the builds. Let\'s get together soon and go shooting our crankfires again.  Merry Christmas to you and everyone also.

Bill.

Fixed, except the pics. I will get the pics fixed in the next week or two. Its going to take some time!

Well our group lead Wes has been pushing on way out in front of us. We get to follow in his foot steps. Here is a couple of pics from a get together on Tuesday. Should note he is still working on the firing pin on the bolts but has all ten of them in and moving to and fro. Next is the feed system.

Dug out some old scrap Oak flooring that I had in the garage and Wes starting in on it and you can see what he did with it in the pics. He did buy some Oak vineer plywood at a big box store for his box.

I did a post on another thread about the 2 piece bolt carrier. So here is the link to it and the pics that are in it.

The pics in this link are new of the way that we did the 2 piece bolt carrier.

Well here is the first 5 pics that go on the first page. Let me add right up front this is Not the best way to do this. All I can say is I got it started and then finished on a much larger lathe. Try to find someone with a bigger better lathe.

Wish that we had a finished one. Canemaker is so close. Needs to do finish work on the bolts. Firing pins and extractors. He has one bolt with firing pin so he has a plan. Now we all need to get going it so we can try to catch up with him. I got a range date for a shoot on May 10th, 2015 so our group is trying for at least 2 or 3 of them to be there.

Canemaker\'s gat pics are at the top of this page on this thread. He has since added a drum mag which he is working on also. He leads we follow.

Sorry about that. I\'ll have to get a pic of some of my finished barrels. I got to use a friend 24\" South Band to straighten out and get things down. Then I finished them on canemakers lathe. Barrel pics later.

Forgot to take my camera over when I was visiting canemaker today so a pic of the barrels will have to wait.

But they say they say it starts with 1.... Well canemaker testing out his firing pin setup today. It fired!!!! Way to go canemaker!!! Now we have about 55 bolts shaped but not finished yet. Well he went and finished the firing pin setup on one and reworked the spring some and tested it with one round and one bolt and got 1 bang and a piece of lead in the 4 inch thick board he was shooting at. Now we are waiting for some material to finish off some more firing pins and bolts.

Again Way to go Canemaker.

Also should note that his drum feed system is working just fine at this time. I\'ll get the chance to talk to him more after Church on Sunday.

Well got a pic for you tonight. We build as canemaker sets up a jig. Then we make a group of that part. Canemaker has gone ahead of the group and has done the great work that you see above. He states that he is double checking the plans. So the rest of us follow. Which is fine with us. More pics to come later.

Following pic is of my box of parts. The barrel still need to be hexed on the end. Sometime we will set that jig up and do all of them at one time. That\'s means only 40 barrels to go.

The way that I did it was to rough turn the barrels on my small HF lathe. Very rough, did it so I would not have to use my friends lathe forever. Remember we as a group were doing 50 barrels. So lathe time was important. Then to canemakers lathe for a final turn down to .500. Then we chambered them and set the final length. All of the barrels need a final polish on them. 40 of them still need hex ends also. At least they are chambered. Also need to cut the extractors in them.

The whole group wants to add the hex. In my case it will hide a few front sight dovetails. So it is needed on my barrels. Now two of our group got lucky and got a great barrel deal from cutter so that did not have to cut down or work with dove tails etc. Thanks again cutter for their deals.

WOW
10 years, really. Doing the math, yes, it is.

Update. At the start of this project 5 folks got together to start off sharing and doing. Where did everything end up??

1st canemaker made his and shot a few rounds from it, never got it running perfect before he sold it. Understand it's a sitting display piece in a large collection.

2nd 42rocker mine, finished, needs some range time and final tuning.

3rd Peters finished, never shot, sold it, to me. I now have a pair of bookends that I sometimes display at shows and events.

4th avmans finished, never shot. Nice display

5th Toads almost finished, Due to a storm his bolts were lost, so it's his display

I'll try to get some pics back up.
