Starting on the 4” schedule 40 brass pipe

for the casing.  7-1/2”  long.

Scary taking a cutter to some of those expensive brass pieces.

You might be right, it’s hard to control chatter

on this little Jet

Looks fast , but that’s only 400 rpm’s , worked ok for cutting the length.

Boring could be a problem.

I have the boring dialed in at 130 rpm’s .020 diameter cut and .006 chip

There is some chatter, but will polish out OK with some 220 grt

The Casing is off the lathe, faced to length and

bored for the cam blanks. Mounting holes next,

along with the clearance holes for the crankshaft.

Jerry looking good! Did you bore the whole length of the casing?

No Mike,

I bored the first end in 3” to 4.050 dia. for bolt carrier clearance.

Flipped it over and bored for the cam

The mounting and clearance holes all in, I’ll try the assembly

after I pick up some screws.

Assembly went well, didn’t have to file out any holes.

I bored the crankshaft holes in the rear frame piece.

Measures good, but can always be adjusted a little if needed.

Crossed a BIG waypoint today with the gun project.    Successfully detonated a empty cartridge with a live primer.    Last pieces made were the cocking mechanism and switch which are working nicely.   I still have to make a knob for the rear, probably tomorrow.    Also, its past due time to get a crank handle made up, gears and shaft are done, I turned the barrel cluster by hand for the test fire.    Still, detonating a live primer renews the enthusiasm on the project.   If a primer detonates, you can bet your last dollar a bullet would have came flying out the barrel too!    Its now officially a gun, just needing a lot of finishing touches.

Cutting a riser for the Yoke today.

I only have 1” clearance between Casing & Yoke

Fastening from bottom, and eliminating the center nut

I cut the outside profile first, moved one clamp at a time

outside and cut the inside, make sure all clamp holes are in first.

Good luck

I cut the radius slot again, to 1/2” deep

an added the alignment hole. I getting it set up

on the yoke to make it easier to piddle with.
