Working on the bearing housing, the 5\" diameter front
section of the frame. Bearing is 4-1/2 diameter.

The front bearing housing and barrel plate matched to the bearing.

If you have a smidgen of doubt :?  just before you cut, your probably right.

Wow, that is not your normal run-of-the-mill bearing.     You must have done some hunting to come up with that one.    Bet it was expensive too!

Very nice work as always.    I see you have a little 9x20 lathe, shows what it is capable of in the right hands.    Always enjoy your posts !

Thanks Don,
Ignoring those doubts contributes to global warming.

Thanks George,
The thin multi-load bearings are not hard to find, but
a little pricey. ( 280 bucks ) 750 lb radial load & 1200 lb thrust.
An over kill, but I needed one to build around.
No matter what size lathe, it always comes down to the cutting tip and the work piece.

Have a great 4th

I need to modify my drawing, keeping the cut just inside the limit switches.

Cutter, What are the wood dowls for in the slots in the above picture? Do they control vibrations or chatter with the other cuts?

The dowels are actually corks from my wife\'s chardonnay.
Keeps the noise down a little, better than my pull-tabs

Thanks Guys

The Main Shaft is .750 diameter with 1/2-20 thread on the ends.
Rotates good with a temporary rear plate.
Cam is next.

The head space is controlled by the length of the Main Shaft Spacer Tube.
That will be determined at final assembly.
Clamping on the front barrel plate against the drive pin it should not change. :?:
