The post you did in that other thread, and the pic here got me thinking.    One of the projects where I work is using all stainless piping for everthing.  (paper mill).   There are scraps around, small up to over a foot in diameter.   I wonder how that would work for gatgun projects.      I will have to look next time I am over there and see what the wall thickness is on the smaller sizes.

Sparky,
The stainless pipe your referring to is probably 304 or 316
Not my first choice for material, free or not
It\'s only a hobby

I got the shrouds to the size I want.

Next, a muzzle piece that clamps it all together

I\'m not sure about adding holes to the muzzle clamp,
it can always be done later.
Right now it matches frame tube.

Can we get a dxf of your bolt carrier. I assume things are longer for the ruger firing pin. I\'m kickin myself for not joining the group build.

One more thing. Do you not like the other grades of stainless because of how it machines? I have some various sizes of unidentifed stainless that I\'d like to use.

joboxxer,

The stainless I referred to in an earlier post has

piss poor machinability , in the past I quoted those parts @

3 to 4 times that of mild steel. Also draws more blood.

I\'ll send you a drawing

Crank shaft assembly is finished.
It can be completely disassembled and reassembled in 7.5 minutes.

I received  questions via email regarding the collars.

They are pin retainers only, no pressure involved.

I think you need a chipbreaker on that tool!  LOL.  Nice work, I used that setup to produce mold inserts when we didn\'t have a CNC lathe.

Good observation Frank, I used that tool

for profiling brass and didn\'t want to grind another one

for one piece. Easy clean though , one pick gets all
