Here is a picture of the printed plastic plate. The layers need sanding to use as a pattern for sand casting. The barrel holes need reaming after cast into aluminum and everything else cleaned up with a fine sand paper.

Hey bruski, that 3D printer is amazing.

After 8 hours of machining.

I spent an hour and a half cleaning up chips.


The Rat is already heavier than one Six Shooter.

The plate took a little over 8 hours to print with no fill inside or it would have taken over 19 hours with 50% fill. I am glad that there is no labor charges involved when it is turned on. I am learning that the only way to sand this PLA type of plastic is to use water and fine sand paper or it either melts, loads up the paper or is still rough in the end.

 The plate you made turned out very nice and looks great with the barrels in it.

 Your Rat gun looks almost like about a .357 magnum size compared to the .22 next to it. That might be the way to go if we can\'t find any more .22 lr ammo. At least the center fires can be reloaded again.

Don\'t forget to add shrinkage to the model if you are going to cast from it!

If you guys build  357 gats I want in!!! I have a lot of 38 brass!

The printer made the model slightly larger in all directions so cleanup will need to be done after casting.

 If you want to start a .357 with about six barrels, I would be right behind you also. The only problem that would need to be delt with is the recoil on the bolts would need to be absorbed 100% by something other than the cam follower pins or bearings.

Cutter, can\'t wait to see what you come up with. I\'ve been thinking about the accles for a while. It positively feeds like your drum mag, with a higher capacity. With a cnc, the spiral cuts should be easy. Delrin for the two spiral plates, and the spoked carrier? Victorianshipmodels.com has a nice illustrated cutaway video on one. Thanks for posting your ideas, and the progress. It\'s been a real inspiration to a lot of us I\'m sure.

I\'m not sure the Delrin will work with this design, it may be a little flimsy at that thickness.
I might use some acrylic for the prototype.
I couldn\'t get to the .com you recommended, I would like to see it.
