Rat Gat

I would like to do a parallel build with one or more members, more is better.

Not the traditional RG-G design. More of a Rat Gat.

Based on the Ruger 10 22, with 5 stock barrels and bolts.

I picked up 5 barrels at a gun show for 10 bucks each and a bolt for 20.

There\'s a lot of parts out there.

Who\'s in ??

I am interested but just too involved with the firing problem of the D&E.  I would like the opportunity to work with you.  I will, however, follow the posts with much interest.

I\'m looking at this as a secondary build.
Maybe taking around 2 years.
If you have comments or suggestions jump in, I want different ideas.

The aluminum prototype bolt for the Rat Gat is almost finished.

The bolts will be 303 stainless.

Most of you will recognize the hardware.

Here\'s a good comparison of the Carrier.

1.5 X larger.

 

 

WOW, that is going to be a full sized monster when you finish it.

Yes Bruski, It\'s getting a little bigger.

I changed from 5 to 6 barrels, and those bolt bore\'s are .875

 Have you finished the prototype aluminum bolt for this gat? I am curious as to what the front section of the bolt is going to look like along with the rear firing pin area.

Cool... I just acquired another dozen rusty .22 barrels, but I\'d have to sleeve them up to get to .920.  Is that what you did?

No Shred, I took the easy way.
Midway had the .92\'s on sale in Aug. for 89 bucks.

Picked up 3 more Extractors at the local gun show/swap meet last weekend.

What is the \"day job\" of those extractors?

These are Extractors used on Ruger 10/22 semi-automatic rimfire rifle
also used for a magnum version, and a pistol.
They\'ve been around about 50 years.
Thousands of original or aftermarket parts available.

Here\'s my model of the Barrel Plate for the Rat.

Using stock Ruger V blocks and mounting stock Barrels.

Start cutting next week.

In case you were wondering, I thought that I would try and print one in plastic then use it as a pattern to cast one out of aluminum.
