The Springfield Armory published a price list in 1875 for .45 Caliber Gatling Gun Parts.
I was looking at the total price of the parts and saw that a complete Gatling Gun, less the carriage was $1,200.00. This struck me as a lot of money in 1875 so I found a correction factor for inflation published by the CPI and recalculated the cost of the parts. The price corrected for today\'s dollars at $23,172.19 IS a lot of money, especially for something that by this time was being built in reasonable quanities.
On second thought however, with all the scrapped parts and do-overs on my gun, these prices may not be that far off!
