Hi I just joined the forum recently and am starting to build the RG-G gatling gun. I have a home shop for hobby work with a Grizzly 4003 lathe and a Grizzly G0730 mill. A also have wood working and welding equipment. I studied machine shop for 3 years at Votech during high school and worked for 7 years as a maintenance machinest about 35 years ago. In the past few years I got back into machining as a hobby when I bought the Grizzly machines. I just finished building a Stirling engine ( the victorian designed by Jerry Howell) as a project to get reaquainted with machineing to good tolerances. The engine works well and as I needed another project I decided to build a gatling gun. I have started on the carriage and have the trail and axle done just need to assemble them. I have a hobby sawmill at my hunting cabin/land and used rock (chestnut) oak that I cut and milled at the cabin to build them. I have a full time job that requires alot of travel so my projects at home go slowly but surely. I bought the wheels from a local wagon builder (I live in Lancaster County PA with alot of Amish around so wagon builders are plentiful) and I bought the barrels and bolts from Cutter. The rest I am planning on making and after I have some more parts made I will post up some pictures. I will have some questions and I\'m sure I\'ll be posting them more often then pictures. Thanks in advance for any help that I get with my questions and have a good day.

Welcome on board. Ask all the questions you can think of. I\'m still asking them. I\'ve finished my gun but I\'m waiting until I get back from vacation next week to get the barrels black oxided before I post the finished project. There are some errors on the drawings and easier ways of doing things, so questions are a good way to avoid setbacks. Good luck with your build.

Welcome to the forum, its a good thing you travel.... It may keep you from getting burnt out on the project!
Thanks for the welcome. It will be a few weeks before I actually start making gun parts but after I get started I will have questions. And hopefully after I get some parts finished I will start posting progress pictures. Have a good day.
I just reread what I posted at the begining of April about starting on gun parts soon and had to chuckle. Since I posted that, some ongoing back problems got a lot worse and I haven\'t been in the shop for weeks. I most likely will need surgery so it may be months before I post up any pictures of finished gun parts. But I will get started on it eventually and still plan on having plenty of questions. Not looking for sympathey it will work out fine one way or another. Just happened to reread this post and thought I would update it. Have a good one.
My back problems seem to be getting better so maybe I will start to make some gun parts soon. I am going to post some of the work that is completed as of now. I started on the carrige first and here are some pictures of what is done so far. If the back continues to improve Hopefully I will soon post some pictures of some completed parts. Have a good one.
