Tell me if you see any problem with this
« on: March 09, 2015, 08:50:48 AM »
I have a plan to modify the rg. I have 24\" x .920 barrels and I want to finish them to .750 OD. I am changing to a 3\" bolt circle with a 4\" OD on the barrel plates and bolt carrier. I know other parts will have to be bigger too. I also plan to change the barrel plate to have the chamber in it and screw the barrel rifling tight against it. This allows the barrels to be interchangeable and makes the chamber lengths more precise.

I suppose that would work but the wedge clamp barrels method accomplishes the same things easier.   It also makes removing barrels meouch faster and easier.

The clamp method here on the forum is basically the same method used by ruger on the 10-22.
