This was sent to me by Dick C. as a way to help stabilze the base when feeding ammo. I helps keep it from rising as the rounds drop onto the bolt carrier.

Does that little pin hook into the rail somehow?

Good idea, I\'m going to have to do something like that! I\'ve spent too much time on my \'Drum Mag\' and \'Stick Mags\' to have them go flyin\' around!

Another excellent idea. I have a completed gun and this latch is really required.
Pictures of Paul\'s gun shows some sort of latch but was not in the plans that I purchased.

Would also like to say that I\'m impressed with the quality of the silver soldering I\'ve seen on this site.
If I had any one major problem building my gun it was silver soldering. I resorted to soft solder where I thought I could get away with it.

There is no drawing of the latch in the RGG prints, although there is a latch on your promotional pictures.  I will send a drawing of my latch for a SASE, send me a PM for address.

Just made this. Drilled and tapped 3/8 brass rod.
My magazine base latch version. I will use a 6-32 knurled head screw(I didn\'t have one for the pic). It locks when the screw is tightened into a drilled hole in the brass side rail.

Be careful not to melt the previous \'silver soldered\' mag base joints.

More photo bucket pics that are lost. I wish that folks would post the pics to the forum website. Anyone that has a copy of these photos and willing to post them again??

I was thinking of making a mag base latch using a magnetic catch with a centering pin on the main rail, has anyone tried this?

I decided to go in a different direction for the mag base latch.
