Oscillator slide
« on: February 11, 2014, 08:08:48 PM »

Just finished the oscillator slide. I made another t-slot cutter using my dremel fixture. I\'m just wondering what would be the best way to attach it to the 3 inch brass breech casing. I\'m scared to death I\'ll distort it trying to silver solder it. Same with the side brackets. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cutter,

The way he bolted it to a crescent section on the inside may be the way to go.  Thanks for the info.

I used a countersunk screw in the center and then soft soldered the oscillator to the sleeve.

I believe that several folks made theirs over sized so that they could bolt/screw it to the side mounts and tube without silver soldering it. This is what is in our plans at any rate. Someday hope to get to this point.

I like the idea of a countersunk screw through the slide and tube into a tapped steel crescent and then soft soldering the slide.  Hard to get anything done in the shed with the ice storm going on.  This year has been tough in Georgia.  This forum is a wealth of information.  Thanks to all.
