Had a little extra time this weekend and was able to get the main shaft made.

Your work looks Great!  Question: When cutting the main shaft to lenght, did you mesure it with a scale or do you have calipers that big? I plain to do my main shaft next I\'ll have to use a large scale on it and cut it as close as I can!  Also, post some pics of your equiptment in the Equiptment forum? It\'s allways good to see what other people are making their parts on.
Thanks

Actually I used a tape measure. I don\'t beleave the overall length is that critical. I ended up with it about 1/16\" over 20\". I can always shorten it a bit later if needed.

HI,
There is a Guns & Ammo magazine out with a 1873 gatling gun featured.
It has a hinged front cover plate. It looks just like the cover picture that is on this forum.

Looks good! But how are you going to attach the steel rails to the housing (assuming the housing is brass)?

I was planning on silver solder as well as the screws that go thru to the cam.

I have never seen an adjustable mandrel that big before.

It is a KO Lee. Comes in handy sometimes. I made a sacraficial aluminum sleeve to protect it.

Finally had a little time to get back to the Gat Gun. Roughed out the bolts.

When I view nice work like this and then look at the last time this person was here I have to guess about what happened.
I hope that sometime I get to see posts of more of this build and or what happened.
Hope that he was able to finish it.
Anyone out there know??
