Hello all :)

I\'m a hobby machinist and a tool & die maker by profession and just recently ordered both D&E and RG-G plans. Why both? Because I wasn\'t sure and wanted to see how different they are and after reading a bit on the forums, I\'m going to build the RG-G version, as it is documented better and the drawings have an essential feature: dimensional tolerances.

The only problem I have is finding a cheap source for the barrels, the only I have found from my country is selling Lothar barrels @ 120 EUR per 610 mm leength, that would mean about 600 EUR just for the barrels :( I\'m not too fond of saying exactly what country I\'m in as of yet, but in here the law says that barrel blanks can be had and purchased without a license, but once it has a chamber or threads for attaching it to something, then it is considered a gun part and needs a license.

And I have to see about the plans a little bit more as they are in inches and I\'m in a metric country. I could do it in inches, but would prefer metric dimensions so I might redesign the parts to fit my world, unless someone already has done it.

Those rules sound like the UK. Lol

When I started my build (D&E) I faced the same problem. I shipped my barrel blanks from the US to my home address (UK) without any issues. I\'ve since theaded them and they are on my FAC now. Maybe someone in the US can order you some blanks and ship them to you.

If not, and you are in the UK, I know a guy with lots of old barrels that offered them to me. PM me if you fancy.

Paul

Not in UK, but thanks for the offer :) I think I\'ll try to get someone to ship them from the US to me unless I find a cheap source locally.

Already started modelling the parts in SolidWorks to make everything in nice metric units :) It\'s been a long time since I last used SolidWorks, so feeling a bit rusty, but slowly getting it again.
