Another Box Cam Question?
« on: April 05, 2012, 11:32:24 AM »
In drilling and tapping the 4-40 holes for the box cam mounting a couple of the holes broke through the side of the box cam. Is this going to be a problem? I sanded the interior smooth. What about a metal filler?  Thanks

Bob,
I would drill all those holes through, easy to tap.
Cut the screws off.

Don\'t worry about any metal filler. Like cutter said, just cut the screws off and remove any burrs.

Thanks Guys!  Also How critical is the TDC and BDC in relation to the side rails?  The reason I ask is that I slipped slightly drilling the holes and I\'m off by a couple thou. Since I haven\'t cut the box cam slot yet I\'m thinking that I can adjust the marks before I disassembly everything.

Don\'t worry about it, Here\'s why.
The inside diameter of the Cam is 2.520 X Pi = 7.9168 divided by 360 degrees = .0219 per degree.
That means your couple of thou is less than 1 tenth of one degree.
