Box cam coordinates
« on: January 10, 2012, 01:37:21 PM »
These are the coordinates by degrees that I used to cut my box cam. These go around the cam counterclockwise rather than clockwise like in the plans.

I just got my box cam cut out using your coordiates. Turned out great, thank you for posting them. I was surprised how smooth the cut was. It will take very little work to finish it.
Thank you for sharing this information

Great, I\'m glad it worked out for you too. It\'s kind of time consuming making all of those plunge cuts, but certainly better than a hacksaw and a file. :D
I just used a couple of stones and a gray abrasive wheel to dress the cam surfaces on mine, and then polished them up with a cloth wheel and some rouge.

Edit: I looked for your build thread, but didn\'t see it. Post pics please.

Wish I\'d of taken more pics during machining but I think I\'ve only taken on or two crappy cell phone pics. I will try to post some pics of my progress. Its been about a year of working on them (building three cuz I foolishly thought it wouldn\'t take much more time but infact made 3x\'s as much work    ) and now they are starting to look like gatling guns. Really cool when the parts all start coming together and fitting  .
Each cambox took several hours to mill the slot but it was well worth the effort.
Thanks Mike
