I’m looking into the one piece assembly. Is there a commercially available keyway cutter that would work to produce the slot? I’m not that far along yet but if a custom one is needed I will start working on getting one made so I’m ready when the time comes. Other thought is possibly turning the slot on a lathe using a trepaning type tool of sorts.

I use a standard Woodruff key cutter ( # 302 1/2 )

just relieve the shank enough to clear the slot between

the recoil points

Thanks. I will order one on my next tool order. I have a toolpost grinder so relieving the shank is no problem.

If you make one blank , 2.500 OD X 1.500 ID

1.500 long , you can get three cocking rings

Nice. I have to let you know the reason I am taking the plunge and starting on this project is the info and photos you and a couple other guys have shared. I greatly appreciate all your help. The modifications and methods you have done really make a working gun attainable. After buying the plans and reading the old forum posts I was deterred because of all the posts where people followed the plans and the guns were quite unreliable.

A big thanks to Cutter!

What grade of metal do you recommend. I was looking at online metals and they have Mild Steel Round Tube A513-Type 5 Dom

in that size. I didn\'t see another alloy there in that size

The tube will ok for a .22

With .002/.005 movement at recoil, it’s not going to be hammering on it
